DNF or Dandified Yum is the next generation version of the Yellowdog Updater, Modified (yum), a package manager for RPM-based distributions. DNF was introduced in Fedora 18〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.linux-magazine.com/Online/Features/Will-DNF-Replace-Yum )〕 and it is a default package manager for Fedora since version 22.〔(【引用サイトリンク】)">url=http://www.webupd8.org/2015/05/fedora-22-released-see-whats-new.html )〕 Perceived deficiencies of yum which DNF is intended to address include poor performance, high memory usage, and the slowness of its iterative dependency resolution.〔 DNF uses libsolv, an external dependency resolver. It does package management using RPM, libsolv and hawkey libraries. For metadata handling and package downloads it utilizes librepo. To process and effectively handle the comps data it uses libcomps. There is another reason that Yum is being targeted for replacement: it uses its own, iterative dependency-resolution mechanism.
